The momentum for Asian publishers appears to be carrying into this year, with two Japanese titles dominating the charts in January. Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors: Origins lead the way, generating $21.2 million in its debut month as the series’ tenth installment. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which initially launched on PlayStation in February last year, debuted on Steam this January, secured second place with $18.9 million in gross revenue for the month. The game is the second release in the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, which revisits the original game released in 1997.
